4 DAY CULTURAL TOUR AT NSHENYI VILLAGE

Overview

This 4 day cultural tour will take you to Nshenyi Cultural Village so that you can experience the Ankole Culture which is famously known for their large herds of long horned cattle. You will have an opportunity to participate in some of the cultural activities as detailed below.

Day One
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be received by our company representative who will be your driver/guide. He will brief you about the tour and transfer you to the hotel booked for you. Depending on your time of arrival, you may have a brief city tour. Here you will visit the Bahai temple, Kasubi Tombs of the Buganda kings and Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine where 22 Christian convicts were killed. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel reserved for you.

Day Two
Transfer to Nsenyi Cultural Village

After enjoying your morning, embark on a journey to Nsenyi Cultural Village where you will be introduced to the Ankole culture. Lunch will be en-route. You will experience the traditional pastoralist way of living in the silent countryside. You will be able to see large herds of long horned cattle reared in this village. Dinner and overnight rest will be in Nsenyi Village.

Day Three
Engage in different cultural activities

Wake up very early in the morning and join in milking the cows for a warm glass of milk for breakfast. Visit a school, or even escort the local children there. Assist in the preparation of the traditional meals like matooke (plantain bananas), “eshabwe”, “obushera” (the local beverage), “akaro” (millet bread), ghee making and share a meal after. You will also see how all the things from cows are used here from hide to meat. You may also witness and participate in the Banana beer or juice preparation as you squeeze the juice out of the bananas with your feet. During dinner time, you will be entertained by the traditional dancers and singers as you are warmed by the camp fire.

Day Four
Departure

Very early in the morning before dawn, wake up and take part in milking the cows so as to collect some milk to enjoy for breakfast. You may go for bird watching on a nature walk. Later embark on a journey back to Kampala. Lunch will be en-route. You will be dropped at Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
